Announcing the CLS 2021 Finalists

The CLS Program is pleased to announce the results of its 2021 summer competition. We applaud all applicants for the 2021 CLS Program for their commitment to language learning and congratulate the finalists and alternates selected from this impressive pool of students.

Finalists for the 2021 CLS Program were selected from a diverse pool of over 4,600 applicants, representing all fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. They represented 628 different higher education institutions across the country, including 151 Minority-Serving Institutions, 14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and 57 community colleges.

The CLS Program is proud that our finalists represent the same level of diversity as our applicants, including over 220 different higher education institutions.

Due to the current health and safety situation, the majority of CLS institutes for summer 2021 will be offered as virtual programs. Virtual institutes in 2020 resulted in impressive language gains among our scholars. We are pleased to be able to offer the same high-quality opportunity to our 2021 scholars.
