Congratulations to the over 500 U.S. undergraduate and graduate students selected for the 2024 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program! We applaud all applicants for their commitment to critical language study and congratulate the finalists and alternates selected from an impressive pool of over 5,000 applicants.
Finalists were selected from a diverse pool of over 5,000 applicants from U.S. colleges and universities in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Of these institutions, 20 are community colleges, 55 are minority serving institutions, three are rural institutions, and 34 have never had a CLS Program award recipient before.
If you were selected as a finalist, you have until Wednesday, March 13th to accept the award. You will find more details on your CLS Program in your notification message. If you were notified as a semifinalist in January and have not received a final notification of your selection status, please ensure that the notification email has not been caught in a spam filter. If you have any questions, you can contact us at cls@americancouncils.org. Our office hours are 9-5 ET Monday-Friday.
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is supported in its implementation by the American Councils for International Education.
