U.S. Government Issues Statement in Support of International Education

This week, as part of the opening of the EducationUSA Forum, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona announced a Joint Statement of Principles in support of international education with support from the Departments of Commerce and Homeland Security. This statement emphasizes our shared commitment to promoting international education and outlining the benefits of global academic engagement to all Americans. The Joint Statement revitalizes the U.S. government's effort to work collaboratively through a whole-of-government approach to support the American higher education sector as we emerge from the global pandemic and into the future.

The video messages from Secretaries Blinken and Cardona also served to highlight the value of international education to U.S. diplomacy, national security, economic prosperity, and U.S. leadership in research and innovation as well as to emphasize the U.S. government's commitment to a renewed focus on international education at home and abroad.
