Join the next generation of CLS alumni leaders! If you’re a 2025 alum eager to build community, spread the word about CLS, and develop your leadership skills, apply to become a 2026 CLS Alumni Ambassador! Applications are due at 11:59 PM EST on Thursday, January 8, 2026!
2026 Alumni Ambassadors are select alumni from the 2025 CLS Program who serve as representatives, recruiters, and spokespersons by sharing their experiences with various audiences, including applicants, program finalists, university staff, alumni and the general public. CLS Alumni Ambassadors hail from all over the country and represent a broad mix of disciplines, degree programs, and institutions. As official representatives of the CLS Program, ambassadors are expected to represent the CLS Program in a respectful and professional manner. This is a one-year, unpaid volunteer position.
As an Alumni Ambassador, you will:
- Promote the CLS Program and conduct at least one recruitment activity
- Organize at least one alumni event and help cultivate a strong CLS alumni network
- Answer questions from future and current participants
- Share your CLS story with key stakeholders and prospective applicants
- Mentor prospective applicants and finalists
- Collaborate with CLS staff on multimedia projects
All CLS Alumni Ambassadors must attend the 2026 Alumni Ambassador Forum, an annual event in Washington, D.C. that provides training, professional development sessions, and opportunities to connect with CLS staff, U.S. Department of State representatives, and fellow alumni leaders. The Forum is tentatively scheduled for April 11 – April 14, 2026. Alumni ambassadors receive a stipend to cover transportation, lodging, and meals during the Forum. In addition, Alumni Ambassadors receive virtual training throughout their one-year term.
Anyone who successfully completed the 2025 CLS Program is eligible to apply to become a 2026 Alumni Ambassador. We welcome applicants from all fields, degree levels, and institution types. Please note that if you applied for overseas study through the 2026 CLS Program, you are still eligible to apply.
