Program Overview
The 2022 CLS Program in Arusha, Tanzania will be held as a virtual institute. The CLS Program’s virtual programming comprises approximately 20 hours of language activities per week, including:
- 10 hours of face-to-face (synchronous) small group class
- 10-15 hours of synchronous and asynchronous activities:
- Individual feedback sessions with instructors
- Asynchronous instruction, such as reviewing video recordings
- Cultural activities
- Individual and group homework assignments
- Directed independent study
- Regular meetings with a language partner for conversation practice
The Swahili program is hosted by the MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS-TCDC), a state-of-the-art development management training institution, located in Usa River, Arusha in northern Tanzania. Established in 1967, MS-TCDC has gained a reputation for high quality training of civil society organizations and their partners, donors, and government agencies. In addition to Swahili language courses, MS-TCDC offers a range of short-term training courses for international development practitioners as well as accredited certificate programs, diplomas, bachelor’s, and master’s programs.
