Busan, South Korea
Program Dates:
June 14 - August 14, 2026
Hosting Institution:
Pusan National University
The CLS Korean Program in Busan, South Korea, is hosted by Pusan National University (PNU), one of Korea’s first national universities. The academic program allows students to rapidly increase their command of all aspects of the Korean language. One way the program supports this growth is by integrating classroom learning directly with the cultural excursions and activities students participate in around Busan, helping them use new vocabulary, grammar points, and concepts in everyday situations.
Co-curricular activities and excursions in Busan also give students insight into a wide range of topics and fields. In the past, CLS participants met with Korean entrepreneurs, learned about marine science in the coastal city, and practiced Taekwondo. In their spare time, past students also have enjoyed exploring Busan, sampling local seafood, and hiking nearby trails.
Participants live in PNU dormitories with a PNU student as their roommate. Students experience daily life on campus and eat most of their meals in the PNU cafeteria. The connections CLS students form with their roommates and other peers on campus give them unique insight into Busan and help build the skills needed to navigate daily life in South Korea on their own.
