Benjamin Hobson participated in the 2025 CLS Chinese Program hosted by National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan. Benjamin is pursuing a B.A. in Chinese Language and Culture and Politics and International Affairs at Wake Forest University. His career goal is to use his language skills to strengthen international and interpersonal ties as a Foreign Service Officer, a dream that was solidified during his time on the CLS Program.
"CLS was the most beneficial two months to my language learning journey. Not only did I develop my vocabulary and grammar, but holding to a language policy, living with a host family and hanging out with language partners improved my confidence and fluency to a point where I felt comfortable speaking Chinese even in casual settings outside the classroom. I think CLS strikes a perfect balance of formal academic learning with more natural opportunities to learn from the community."
