Dear Colleagues,

We hope you are doing well and that the start of the school year has been smooth! As many of you gear up for a busy fall semester of advising, we wanted to share a few updates from the CLS Program ahead of our application launch, which is slated for early October.

We invite you to join us for advisor-only pre-launch webinar at 3:00 PM Eastern on September 17, where we’ll provide more detailed updates. Additionally, we’ll be hosting webinars and events throughout the application period for you and your students to learn more about the program. The full calendar of events is available now.

Languages and Levels Offered

  • Japanese will now be available through CLS Spark at the beginning and advanced beginning levels. The CLS Program overseas will continue to offer instruction at the intermediate and advanced levels.
  • Korean will also be available through CLS Spark at the beginning level, alongside the advanced beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels offered overseas.
  • Azerbaijani will not be offered as part of the 2025 CLS Program. We have made this decision after careful consideration with our partners. The CLS Program will continue to support alumni of the Azerbaijani program.

Program Eligibility

  • During the selection process, preference will now be given to Spark applicants from campuses that do not offer their Spark language.
  • Spark alumni from the 2024 summer initiative who apply for the 2025 CLS Program overseas in the same language will automatically advance as a semifinalist.

We’re excited for you to join us for the webinar and learn more about these exciting changes. If you can’t make it, don’t worry—a recording will be available afterward.

We appreciate all your work in promoting the CLS Program and in helping your students navigate the application process. If there’s anything we can do to support your efforts, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Caitlin
