Statuses now live in advisor portal

We have now completed the first round of notification for the 2022 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program, a program of the U.S. Department of State. Notification emails were sent to the primary email address listed on each student’s application. If you have students who are waiting to hear back and have not yet seen their notification email, please encourage them to check their spam filters. If they still do not see a notification from us, they should email to confirm their email address for the message.

As a principal advisor, you can now log in to see the current selection status for each of your applicants in our advisor portal located at

Students listed as “In Evaluation” will be sent along for consideration in the second round of our selection process. Students listed as “Not Selected” will not move forward. Please note that we are unable to provide feedback on any individual application or group of applications.

Application evaluation for our second round of selection is now underway and we will send our final notifications to current semifinalists by early March.

If you need to reset your password, you will need to do so using the email address associated with your account, not your username.

I recommend bookmarking this page, as the address is not entirely intuitive, and it is not linked on our web site.

As always, we thank you for the work you do year-round to support students in applying for the CLS Program. Please be in touch if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Natalie Spencer
Assistant Manager
